Salesianum’s football coach for 11 seasons, a school longevity record, Father O’Neill was the State’s first “Coach of the Year” in 1954 with a 9-1 record. His over-all record was 62-37-8 after he
was assigned to restore Sallies’ football in 1945. He also coached the basketball team five years. “Buzzy” O’Neill was a three-sport athlete for the Sals.



Every inductee into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame since our inaugural year in 1976 is represented on our website. Honoring the athletic excellence of these men and women is an integral part of Delaware sports history.


From our annual Delaware Sports Hall of Fame induction gala in May, celebrations of Black History Month and Women in Sports Month, as well as individual sports highlights, there is something for every sports fan.
