Renee was the first Special Olympics athlete inducted. She excelled at the  State, Regional, National and International level in cross-country, aquatics, distance running, skiing and sailing.
The Middletown star won the  Gold Medal in the 100-Yard individual medley and took third in the 200 yard freestyle at the 1991 International Special Olympics Summer Games in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. Renee was named the 1991 National “Special Olympics Female Athlete of the Year” and Delaware Special Olympics 1991. She won Gold medal in the 1,000 and 3,000 meter cross-country skiing at
the New Jersey Special Olympic Games 1992 – 95 and was a member of the 1992-92 Special Olympics International Sports Rules Committee. Renee was a member of the 1994 Unified Sailing team that received
the Gold medal at the Connecticut Invitation and a member of the 4th place sailing team in the 1995 “World Games.” She has been a speaker at the Annual Banquets of the Delaware Sports Writers and
Broadcasters and Delaware Women in Sports 1992.



Every inductee into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame since our inaugural year in 1976 is represented on our website. Honoring the athletic excellence of these men and women is an integral part of Delaware sports history.


From our annual Delaware Sports Hall of Fame induction gala in May, celebrations of Black History Month and Women in Sports Month, as well as individual sports highlights, there is something for every sports fan.
